ABOUT Private Auctions
What is a Private Auction?
A private auction is an auction that is not open to the general public. The participants are selected based upon pre-established criteria.
When is a Private Auction Used?
A private auction is used when settling an estate or when the law or other legal encumbrances preclude a public auction.
Harmers has used private auctions to resolve estate conflicts and when a will or codicil directs that the collection must be sold to a specific category of buyer, such as a museum.
A private auction may be used when the material must be sold to only businesses or non-United States entities.
Private Auction Fees
Private auctions are priced on a case by case basis due to the variability of the requirements. Please contact Keith Harmer directly for a confidential consultation.
